As the owner of Purrfurred Petsitters, I have always believed that our responsibility extends beyond caring for our furry friends. Allow me to introduce you to Pierce’s Pledge. Pierce’s Pledge is not just a website; it is a call to action, a commitment to safeguarding the most vulnerable members of our society: our children.

 

In recent years, filicide—when a parent or step-parent takes the life of their own child—has become alarmingly prevalent. Shockingly, on average, one child per week falls victim to this heartbreaking tragedy during divorce, custody battles, and other legal disputes.

Divorce proceedings can be emotionally charged, and tensions often run high. Children caught in the crossfire face increased risks, especially when firearms are present in the household.

Our collective responsibility as a community is crucial during these tumultuous times. We can be a force for positive change. By advocating for child safety, we can help prevent violence, domestic abuse, and even murder.

Pierce’s Pledge advocates for a straightforward yet impactful measure. When representing clients, they are encouraged to disclose and temporarily store weapons in a third-party location. By doing so, we reduce the potential for violent incidents, power struggles, and tragic outcomes.
